Please reach out to me directly if you have a question not answered here
You'll be required to fill out a brief health history form if you have not already done so via the email request. It is important to list all health concerns and medication so your session can be adapted to your specific needs. You may be asked more in-depth questions regarding focus areas or specific conditions that need to be addressed. Please plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to leave ample time to discuss any special considerations.
You may undress to your comfort level. Most clients choose to undress completely, but you may choose to leave on underwear or other clothing. You will always be draped with a sheet and blanket throughout the massage, except for the area being worked on.
While you may experience some discomfort when tight or tense muscles are massaged, it should be minimal. If you feel yourself tensing up or feeling pain or discomfort for more than a moment, please let me know so that I can make the appropriate adjustments. Likewise, letting me know about any injuries can help minimize the risk of pain during and after the massage.
That is entirely up to you. A massage is meant to help you relax your mind and body, and most people find that listening to the ambient sounds and focusing on the movements helps achieve this. You're encouraged to communicate, however, if you need something in order to be more comfortable.
There are a handful of conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Please do not schedule an appointment if you feel unwell, have cold or flu-like symptoms, or a contagious skin condition. The first trimester of pregnancy is generally considered off-limits for massage (please note that Blue Topaz Massage does not offer prenatal massage), as well as active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments. If you have a serious medical condition or are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, please speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.
You can choose either oil or lotion. The massage oil is 100% organic premium cold- and expeller-pressed oils that are hypoallergenic and free from minerals, silicones, and parabens. The massage lotion is a blend of certified organic ingredients and is nut- and paraben-free. If you are sensitive to any ingredient of either the oil or lotion, coconut oil is also available.
Tipping is never required but always appreciated. A suggestion is to think of your massage therapist the same as you would your server in a restaurant or your hairstylist - a tip reflects your appreciation for the service. For most people the range is 15 to 25% of the full price of the service, depending on the level of satisfaction with their treatment.

The studio, located on the 2nd floor of Casa de Luz East, is unfortunately not accessible for those with reduced mobility, as there is no elevator available. Please contact me directly if you are interested in a massage but unable to visit the studio.
To accommodate all clients, at least 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Those who cancel within 24 hours of the appointment or who do not come at all will be charged 50 percent of the full price of the session. Arriving late for a service may require shortening the length of the treatment depending on the schedule but full payment will be expected.
